MELISSA + JONATHAN | {Twice a Groomsmen. Finally a Groom!}

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Prior to this past weekend, I met Jonathan on two separate occasions during the 2009 wedding season - I can't believe it's been that long! Once in Springdale on July 4th and again October 10th in James town. He was a Groomsmen at both weddings. While very quiet, his friendly demeanor shined through.

Then, one day I got an email from Melissa stating I had photographed her fiancĂ© before and asked if I would be interested in shooting their Wedding in Torbay / St. John's. I was delighted. Not only was I thrilled that they trusted me to photograph the most important day of their lives, I was also excited about the adventure of another East Coast Wedding.

It was pretty cool to photograph Jonathan twice as a Groomsmen and now as a Groom! I've never seen a Groom so happy to be standing at the alter waiting for his Bride to walk down the isle. Its cliche I know, but he was smiling from ear to ear. Even one of the guests sitting next to me in the church pew commented on Jonathan's happiness. I totally get it though. Melissa is a wonderful girl. Not only beautiful, she has a lovely personality too!

It goes without saying - and I think the photos below are proof - Melissa + Jonathan had an amazing day Saturday. I was honored to be apart of it!

It was somewhat surreal standing on George Street Saturday afternoon. When I started my wedding photography career in 2002, I never imagined where it could lead. As a photographer from Central, I've admired the work of many East Coast photographers. I always thought it would be pretty cool to photograph a Bride + Groom on the cobblestone streets of downtown St. John's. Check!

For Melissa + Jonathan, the Sundance on George has a special place in their hearts - it's where they met.

I've been experimenting lately with my pocket wizards at weddings. I'm hooked! I don't have the technique mastered yet, but I'm having fun trying!

Melissa + Jonathan had their reception at Glendenning Golf . This is a venue I highly recommend. Its absolutely gorgeous and the staff are fantastic.

RICHARD + PAM | {Love is Patient. Love is Kind}

Thursday, June 23, 2011

On Saturday, June  18th, I spent the day with Richard + Pam in Lewisporte. Despite the usual minor wedding day glitches, the day was absolutely perfect. It was a little chilly, but we couldn't have asked for better weather, especially with rain clouds threatening a downpour any second. It was a beautiful day!

I first met Pam in September 2008. She was a bridesmaid at one of the first weddings I photographed in Lewisporte. I can't tell you how great it feels to have a Bridesmaid from one wedding contact you to photograph their upcoming nuptials - makes you realize, you must have made a good impression.

Pam + Richard are such an adorable couple. It made me smile each time I heard Richard ask his wife "Sweetheart, can I get you anything?" or "How are you doing hon?" It was a real honor to photograph their wedding.

At wedding receptions, I always meet amazing people. It's a little strange at first - sitting at a table surrounded by strangers. I never got their names, but I had a lovey chat with the guests at my table on Saturday. I also want to send a shout out to Groomsmen Alex English . . . Thanks for the company while waiting for the dance to start!

. . . and this is how we ended the day - in the back seat of a Trans Am!

BABY ABIGAIL | {newborn + family} photography

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

My portrait session with little Abigail and her proud parents, Vanessa + Matt was a little spare of the moment. The new parents weren't going to have newborn photos taken until Matt got called away for work and will be away for six long months. I'm so glad they decided to come into the studio. Babies change so quickly in the first few months, so it's nice to capture their "newness."

I really enjoyed the time I spent with them. Vanessa and I grew up in Grand Falls-Windsor and attended many of the same high school parties, so it was nice to catch up and meet her handsome husband. I hope I'm allowed to say that *blush*.

As Ellen DeGeneres says "A-ny-way..." here is Abigail (just 16 days new) with her Mom + Dad.
